New 500 kV OHL Construction Project to connect Ksani-Stepantsminda Sub-stations
500 kV OHL will connect existing 110 kV Stepantsminda and “Ksani 500/200/110” sub-stations. The length of the OHL – 95.97 km. The project envisages deployment of 253 towers.
At the first stage the line will operate at 110 kV voltage and will serve integration of electricity generated by existing or planned HPPs into Georgian power grid throughout Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region.
At the second stage it is envisaged arrangement of the sub-station of 500/110 kV in the vicinity of Stepatsminda and conversion of the line to the 500 kV voltage. The Line will be connected with Russian power grid. Maximum Transmission capacity may be 1100 MW.
The project is funded by German Development Bank, (KFW). German Consulting Company FICHTNER has been employed for project implementation.
Implementation of the project will create the main line connecting power systems of Georgia, Russia, Armenia and Iran and will contribute to the Georgian power grid stability and large-scale trade relations between Georgia, Russia, other countries of South Caucasus and Black Sea Transmission Network countries.
